Dr Kollongei is an Alexander von Humboldt Fellow who has finalized his research at the Technical University of Darmstadt (TU Darmstadt) in Germany after his successful sabbatical leave. He is currently employed as a Senior Lecturer since January 2019 at the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, School of Engineering, in University of Eldoret (UoE).
Dr Kollongei is a trained Agricultural Engineer with a PhD in Agricultural Engineering from University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) in South Africa, an MSc and Post Graduate Diploma in Water Resources Engineering both from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KU-Leuven) and Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) in Belgium and a BSc in Agricultural Engineering (Soil and Water Engineering Option) from Egerton University (EU), Kenya. He also has a Postgraduate Certificate in Sustainable Water Management and Technology in Urbanised Areas from Universiteit Antwerpen (UA) in Belgium. His academic area of specialization is Irrigation and Water Resources Engineering. He is a member of the Institution of Engineers of Kenya- IEK and a registered graduate engineer with Engineers’ Board of Kenya-EBK.
Dr Kollongei is involved in teaching and research at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Presently he is supervising 2 PhD students and 1 MSc student. He has supervised 7 MSc students who have since graduated, one while serving as a lecturer and six while in his current position as a Senior Lecturer.
Before joining the University of Eldoret (UoE) as a lecturer in 2015, Dr Kollongei had worked for 10 years in the Department of Civil and Structural Engineering as an assitant lecturer and lecturer in Masinde Muliro University of Science & Technology (MMUST) in Kakamega. Dr Kollongei also has industrial experience having worked as an Irrigation and Water Management Engineer for 4 years and 6 months with the National Irrigation Board (NIB) in Kisumu.
