Dr Peter Kirui is a Lecturer of History, Conflict Transformation and Political Studies at University of Eldoret, Kenya and is the immediate Head of Humanities Department. His research interests includes but is not limited to refugee regimes and hosting, democratization and digitization, decolonization processes and legacies, Africa Peace and Security Architecture, post-conflict reconstruction and transitional justice. He is passionate about research geared towards informing policy. He holds a PhD in Conflict Transformation from University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa and Master of Governance and Development from University of Antwerp, Belgium. He also holds a Master of Arts in History and B. Ed(Arts) both from Moi University Kenya. He was a 2018-2019 VLIR-UOS Master Scholar at the Institute of Development Policy(IoB) of University of Antwerp and was Spring 2024 Visiting Fellow at MGIMO, Moscow. He is a member of several professional bodies, including the British Institute in Eastern Africa(BIEA)and the African Network of Critical Security Scholars(ANeCS).
