Dr. Peter Kirui

Dr Peter Kipng'eno Kirui is a Lecturer of History, Conflict Transformation and Political Studies &  Head of Humanities Department at University of Eldoret, Kenya. His research interests includes but is not limited to refugee regimes and hosting, democratization and digitization, decolonization processes and legacies, Africa Peace and Security Architecture, post-conflict reconstruction and transitional justice & International Relations. He is passionate about research geared towards informing policy. He holds a PhD in Conflict Transformation and Peace Studies from University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa and Master of Governance and Development from University of Antwerp, Belgium. He also holds a Master of Arts in History and B. Ed(Arts) both from Moi University Kenya.  He was a 2018-2019 VLIR-UOS Master Scholar at the Institute of Development Policy(IoB) of University of Antwerp and was Spring 2024 Visiting Fellow at MGIMO, Moscow. He is an Associate of the Global Centre for Policy and Strategy(GLOCEPS) and Mashariki Research and Policy Centre(MPRC), Nairobi. He is a member of several professional bodies, including the British Institute in Eastern Africa(BIEA)and the African Network of Critical Security Scholars(ANeCS).
